GRE - Affliction of a month, over!


To be exact had registered for GRE on May 18th 2008. Had a very tough time studying. The journey

from

took a 20 days time. First time in my life my mom told me to stop study and take some break! :-) I was surprised seeing her tone change, all these 20 years she had been telling the reverse and i asked u serious???? ha ha!

Downloaded the Audio wordlists of KrupaShankar. Helped a lotttt for the preparation. Even I tortured myself by removing all my favourite songs from ipod :-( and left me with no other choice.Heard those while eating, sleeping, walking and yeah while bathrooming too (he he!;-) )
Quant i prepared only the last week. Was happy seeing those coordinate geometries once more... And my ipod headphones got damaged. :-( I bought a new panasonic one. I didn't like its colour though. Cheap blue colour! :-( Searched a lot but at music world they had only this colour. But the new one had terrific bass.

But was so sad during the last days of preparation.. Almost two years had dreamt of the teaching profession . Had burn that dream for this. That was the only price which i feel too heavy that I had to pay for writing this GRE... Renu miss had informed that the Guest Lecturer interview at CEC was on June 23rd . And my exam on June 30th. I was in a dilemma as whether to attend the interview or not. Just 7 more days for GRE.... I called up her, she told she will try her max to reschedule the interview. After the interview on 24th, I called up Vinod Sir , he told their helpless situation as some 22 or so had attended the interview for the 4 vacancies. :-) And there ends the story. I won't blame anyone coz Is it right to postpone the interview for only one person when 22 people attended the interview on the right time, right day? No. But one thing ,the dreams of the 22 people who had attended the interview taken together will weigh less, that I am sure.

Next have to write TOEFL . Will take it next month. Ill try for 2009 fall admission. So by that Ill have nearly a year's work ex. And then MS. But will i get stuck up somewhere? God knows. Cant get stuck. Nothing can subside the fervour else for what/why did I prepare for GRE this much? 4 years for engineering I have never did this much hardwork. First time in my life Im getting a feeling that I utilised my free time judiciously.

2 of us went for writing GRE. The security asked for the passport. I showed mine and entered the test room. My friend didn't had a passport as was awaiting the police verification. But it was written in the last page of the authorisation voucher that passport was mandatory for taking any of the exams conducted my ETS. Hmm! First time I realised the importance of the passport. They photographed me. And gave a locker to keep my belongings. The examiner led me to the cafe like room. 4 hours duration with essay writing, quant and verbal. With Gods grace got the expected score.

Just now Dimal called and told we both are shortlisted for Honeywel Interview . The test was conducted long long back. Had even forgot about that. Its next saturday 12th.

So I'll work for 1 year then will go for MS for the following reasons:

1. I can raise the money for the applications myself
2. I will have nearly 1 yr work experience
3. I wont miss the Infosys training and I want that training.
4. I wont have to break the contract period of Infosys if i join in fall and can avoid the idle time ill Jan, waiting simply for the spring admission having nothing to do.
5. If i don't get an admit for fall in my expected universities I can continue working till I get an admission.
6. I can research well in advance and take a good decision
7. I might get better opportunities for funding as its in fall
